BeingKind

Give to the unfashionable thing

Money follows stories. Drainage, insurance and boiler repairs raise nothing and close more organizations than anything else.

Why it lands

Fundraising rewards narrative, which means the photogenic project is funded and the roof is not. Organizations fold over core costs — rent, insurance, a part-time coordinator — that no campaign will ever cover because they make a terrible appeal. Unrestricted money given to the boring part is disproportionately valuable precisely because it is the money nobody else will give.

How

Give it unrestricted and say so: “Use this for whatever is hardest to fund.” A small monthly standing order is worth more than a larger one-off, because it lets them plan. Ask the treasurer what they cannot raise for.
