Why it lands
Proximity without contact details is a strange modern arrangement: you live twenty feet from someone and cannot tell them their car lights are on. The barrier is that swapping numbers face to face feels like asking for a friendship neither of you has agreed to. A card through the door removes the moment entirely — no eye contact, no obligation, and they can ignore it with nobody losing face.
How
Write your first name, house number and mobile on an index card. Add one line about what it is for: “No agenda — just in case you ever need a parcel taking in or a car moving.” Post it. Expect nothing back; the value is that they now can, not that they will.
