Why it lands
Helping once with a recurring job leaves the job where it was. What costs a person most is not the twenty minutes, it is holding the thing in mind every month forever — and that weight is invisible from outside, because all anybody sees is the twenty minutes. Taking a job over completely removes the remembering, which is the expensive part. One job permanently is worth more than occasional help with all of them.

Pick something with a clock on it: the car insurance renewal, the standing order that needs checking, the form that comes every September. Say plainly that it is yours from now on, then actually do it the first time it comes round. That first time is the whole promise.
