Offer to water while they are away

Offering before a holiday is worth far more than offering after. It also quietly tells a burglar the house is occupied.

Why it lands

People rarely ask, because asking means admitting the house will be empty and handing over a key to someone they only half know. If you offer first you have removed the hard part. The plants are the smaller half of it: a house with post cleared, bins moved and curtains changed looks lived in, and that is worth more than any doorbell camera.

How

Catch them before they go: “If you're away, I'm happy to do plants and bins — I'm here all week anyway.” Ask what actually needs doing rather than guessing; most people over-water other people's plants. Send one photo mid-week so they can stop thinking about it.

Nobody has marked this one yet. You could be the first.
