Do the garden of a house that has stopped managing it
An overgrown garden is usually a signal — illness, age, or a household with no spare capacity at all.

Why it lands
Gardens are among the first things to go when a household is overwhelmed, and among the most visible. That visibility becomes its own pressure: the neighbors can see you are not coping, and the longer it goes the more daunting it becomes to start. Someone else doing an hour of it removes both the work and a source of daily private shame.
How
Ask first, framed as an offer rather than a judgement: “I'm doing mine at the weekend and the mower will be out anyway — want me to do yours while I'm at it?” Do exactly what was agreed, nothing more. Never cut anything back without asking.
