Wave through the person with three things
You have a full trolley and eleven minutes of unpacking ahead. They have a sandwich and a train to catch.

Why it lands
Queue position is allocated by arrival time, which takes no account of how long anyone will take or how much the wait costs them. The asymmetry is often enormous: five minutes is nothing to you and a missed connection to them. It is one of the rare situations where a large benefit can be transferred at almost no cost, and the only thing preventing it is that nobody looks behind them.
How
Look back before you start unloading. “You've got three things — go ahead.” Do it before you have begun, because stopping halfway through creates more delay than it saves.
