Take the paperwork pile away for an afternoon

There is a pile of unopened post in most overwhelmed households, and it grows more frightening the longer it sits.

The BeingKind editorsPublished How this is written

Why it lands

Unopened post becomes a physical object of dread: each envelope is potentially a bill, a deadline or an appointment already missed. The longer it is avoided the worse the imagined contents get, and the harder it is to start. Someone else opening and sorting it is trivial work that breaks a genuinely paralysing loop, and it almost always turns out to be less bad than feared.

How

Ask permission, then sort into three piles: needs action this week, needs action eventually, recycling. Do not act on anything or ring anyone without asking. Hand back a short list of what actually needs doing, in order.

Nobody has marked this one yet. You could be the first.
