BeingKind

Quietly cover the person who is skint

Someone stops coming out because they cannot afford it, and tells everyone they are busy instead.

Why it lands

Money is the most common unspoken reason people withdraw socially, and it is almost never given as the reason because it is humiliating. The group concludes they have lost interest and stops inviting, which completes the isolation. Removing the cost without naming it keeps someone in a friendship group they would otherwise have quietly left.

How

Handle it before the event, privately: “This one's on me, no discussion.” Or pick places with no minimum spend — a walk, a park, your kitchen. Never do it visibly at the table, which converts help into charity in front of everyone.
