Correct your own mistake where you made it
Misinformation spreads further than corrections. Correcting yourself in the original place is the only version that works.

Why it lands
A wrong thing posted confidently travels; a quiet deletion leaves the screenshots circulating with nothing attached. Correcting in the same place, visibly, is the only mechanism that reaches the people who saw the original. It also does something structural: public self-correction from ordinary people is what makes it normal, and its rarity is why being wrong feels so costly.
How
Edit or reply in the original thread rather than posting a new one. State plainly what was wrong and what is right, without the defensive framing about how anyone could have made the mistake. Leave the original up with the correction attached.
