Turn up for the move

Helping someone move is the least fun and most remembered favor in the entire catalogue of friendship.

Why it lands

Moving is expensive, exhausting and happens at the worst possible time — usually alongside a job change, a separation or a bereavement. It is also the favor people are most reluctant to ask for, because it is a whole day of somebody else's weekend. Precisely because it costs something real, turning up is remembered in a way that easier gestures are not.

How

Offer for the actual move day, not the packing, which people can do alone. Turn up at the time you said with your own gloves. Take instruction rather than reorganizing their system, and bring food at three o'clock when everyone has forgotten to eat.

Nobody has marked this one yet. You could be the first.
