BeingKind

Organize two hours of clearing up

A litter pick is mostly an excuse. Forty neighbors meeting each other is the actual output.

Why it lands

The bags of rubbish are the visible result and the least important one. What a shared task does is give people a legitimate reason to talk to neighbors they have avoided for years, with a defined start, a defined end and something to do with their hands. Streets that do this once tend to do it again, and the second one is always more social than the first.

How

Pick a date, put a note through every door, and borrow equipment from the council — most lend pickers and bags free. Two hours, finishing at a pub or someone's garden, which is where the actual point happens. Take a photograph and put it through the doors afterwards.

Nobody has marked this one yet. You could be the first.
