Pay the small invoice the day it arrives

Late payment is the main reason small suppliers fail. Paying on receipt costs you nothing and can matter enormously.

Why it lands

Late payment closes small businesses, and it is almost never malice — it is a finance calendar built around thirty or sixty days because that is what the software does. For a sole trader who has already done the work and paid for materials, the gap between invoice and payment is money they have lent you. Paying immediately transfers no cost to you and removes an actual risk from them.

How

Pay the moment it lands rather than batching it. If you are not the one who pays, walk it to the person who does and say it matters. Tell the supplier it has gone — the uncertainty is half the stress.
