Set up a standing childcare swap

Two families alternating one evening a month gives both of them something neither could otherwise afford.

Why it lands

Childcare cost is the binding constraint on most parents' social lives, and the result is couples and single parents who have not been out in years. A reciprocal arrangement converts a cash problem into a scheduling one. It works far better as a standing arrangement than an ad hoc favor, because the reciprocity is built in and nobody has to feel they are asking.

How

Propose it as a fixed swap: “You take ours the first Friday, we take yours the third.” Put both dates in the calendar for six months at once. Keep it even — an arrangement that drifts one way quietly ends.

Nobody has marked this one yet. You could be the first.
